Terrible algorithm
Not only is the algorithm terrible for people who are just up and coming and is just pandering to advertisers over other users, it renders Instagram more or less useless to me. The whole point of following people is that I want to see ALL of their posts, not just the posts of the most popular accounts. On top of that, leaving the app to reply to a text and coming back to see that me feed is all the way back to the top is infuriating. I’m not going to regularly use an app that forces me to scroll past dozens of posts to get back to where I was before.
I also don’t like that I get recommendations based on my Facebook friends despite the fact that I have not connected my Instagram to my Facebook in any way. That’s creepy and invasive.
One last thing: The fact that this is still a thing even though everyone and their mother is complaining about this tells me that the developers of this app don’t listen to their users.
I’m just going back to using Tumblr, honestly. It has lots of problems as well, but at least my feed doesn’t reset every time I leave the app.
